Blackmagic PYXIS is designed to be the world’s most riggable full frame digital film camera! Its compact, rugged body includes multiple standard mounting points and also comes with flexible side accessory plates that let you build a completely custom camera rig! Because they’re industry standard mounting points, PYXIS is compatible with high end professional accessories designed for cameras like URSA Cine, as well as third party accessories such as cranes, gimbals, drones and more! Plus, with 3 models, you can choose between L-Mount, EF or PL lenses to achieve your creative vision! All this means Blackmagic PYXIS gives you the flexibility to build the perfect camera rig for your production!
Blackmagic URSA Cine EVF
You can add an optional Blackmagic URSA Cine EVF to PYXIS for a more cinematic shooting experience! The bright OLED display can show a clean feed of your image or critical status information such as histogram, record status, audio meters and more. It features precision glass optics with a widely adjustable diopter, assignable function buttons, dedicated zoom, exposure and record buttons, built in tally light and more! The URSA Cine EVF is just as flexible as the PYXIS with a wide variety of mounting accessories included in the box including rod arms, three lengths of USB-C cables with locking connectors and an extension arm for perfect positioning on a dolly or geared head.

Blackmagic PYXIS Monitor
Blackmagic PYXIS is designed to be rigged with rails, cages and other accessories. However, these setups can sometimes obscure the built in monitor. Blackmagic PYXIS Monitor provides an additional monitoring option that works with the camera’s design and own mounting accessories. Blackmagic PYXIS Monitor even has a built in accelerometer so you can mount it in any orientation and still view the image perfectly! You can even mount it off the camera on accessories such as gimbals meaning you can maintain full monitoring and camera control, even when the camera’s out of reach. It also has a tally light so you can act as both presenter and camera operator as a one person production team!
Blackmagic URSA Cine Handle
URSA Cine Handle is designed to let you carry your camera safely while expanding the riggability of the Blackmagic PYXIS! The rubberized top grip features a unique 45° pattern that provides the perfect amount of resistance so you can safely carry the camera and capture low angle shots close to the ground. The handle is easy to attach and mounts to the 3/8″ mounting points on top of the Blackmagic PYXIS. It also incorporates 2 additional 1/4″ thread mounts so you can still attach additional accessories. Plus, URSA Cine Handle incorporates a V-lock mount at the front to attach the URSA Cine EVF or PYXIS Monitor, making it easy to use both the viewfinder and the handle at the same time!
Side Plates
Flat plate
The included standard plate is made from the same aircraft grade aluminum as the camera body and has 2 1/4″ thread mounts and one 3/8″ thread mount which are ideal for adding microphones or brackets.
SSD plate
The included SSD plate has straps for secure attachment of USB-C drives for extended recording time. Or attach a mobile phone for tethering of 4G or 5G data over USB-C for streaming or live media sync!
Rosette plate
The optional side plate has 5 1/4″ thread mounts and 4 3/8″ thread mounts for adding multiple accessories, plus a rosette mounting point for attaching handgrips or extension arms.

With multiple industry standard mounting points, it’s easy to transform Blackmagic PYXIS with professional accessories into the perfect camera for any production! Each side of the PYXIS is packed with accessory thread mounts including 3 3/8″ thread mounts and 6 1/4″ thread mounts on the top of the camera, 2 3/8″ thread mounts and 7 1/4″ thread mounts on the bottom of the camera, plus extra points on accessory side plates. This makes it easy to add accessories to your PYXIS such as microphones, lights, monitors or cages. Or you can mount the camera to professional supports such as tripods, gimbals, cranes or even drones for incredible aerial cinematography!
Gimbals
PYXIS is ideal for mounting on gimbals for smooth, stabilized cinematic shots without camera vibration. Add a Blackmagic PYXIS Monitor for flexible off camera monitoring with touchscreen control!
Drones
Capture stunning full frame aerial imagery! PYXIS is compact and lightweight enough to attach to drones. When rigged up, it’s easy to change camera settings using the Bluetooth Camera control app!

Photography or Cinema Lenses
Each PYXIS model works with a wide range of new and vintage photographic and cinema lenses to match your creative vision! The L-Mount model is natively compatible with the latest premium lenses from Leica, Panasonic and more, while its large diameter and short flange distance means you can add adapters for virtually any mount without compromising image quality. The EF model supports widely available photographic and video lenses and features a locking ring for a strong, secure attachment with heavier professional cine lenses. If using cine lenses from Zeiss, Arri or Cooke, the PL model provides a strong and secure attachment and also includes contact pins to read and record lens metadata!
Professional Audio
Blackmagic PYXIS has professional audio inputs and high quality recording built in so you don’t need to carry around a separate audio recorder that has to be manually synced later in post production. Blackmagic PYXIS has a professional audio recorder built in and the sound will be synced into the video file automatically. The mini XLR input has 48V phantom power so you can use high quality microphones for the ultimate in audio flexibility. You can also link audio inputs on the camera to record mono microphones to both channels of the recorded file. Plus the touchscreen viewfinder or optional Blackmagic PYXIS Monitor make it easy to monitor and adjust audio levels for accurate recordings!
Recording Media
Blackmagic PYXIS uses high speed CFexpress Type B cards which are much faster than even the fastest SD/UHS-II or CFast 2.0 cards. CFexpress cards are widely available and come in a range of capacities from 64GB up to a massive 4TB. That’s over 6 hours of stunning, cinematic 6K footage! Plus, with dual media slots, you can keep recording longer because you can hot swap full cards without stopping! The high read and write speeds of CFexpress means you can easily record HD, Ultra HD, 4K and even 6K. Plus, recording to external drives is now easier and more safer than ever, with the included SSD plate offering a convenient and secure mounting location for your high capacity USB-C drive.
Timecode Generators
When shooting with multiple cameras, sync each camera's timecode using an external timecode generator connected to Blackmagic PYXIS via the XLR or 3.5mm audio input or the BNC sync input connector. Once connected, the camera automatically detects the timecode and locks the camera. You can then move from camera to camera locking each one so they all record the same timecode. This allows powerful multi camera workflows for music festivals or live events where cameras can independently start and stop recording while remaining in sync! Then you can use DaVinci Resolve's powerful cut page to quickly view all angles in a multi view and edit perfectly synchronized media from multiple cameras fast!
